After a whole Day 7 of being the “aswang na aswang,” the birthday girls finally got their reward. The Lans and Shea birthday party on Day 8 of PBB Collab Edition 3.0 was a full Halloween costume party, complete with hosts, performances, a Halloween menu and, yes, balut. If you missed how they earned it, start with Lans and Shea’s aswang day. Timestamps follow the official full episode on YouTube. Here’s how Lans and Shea spent their night.
They passed the aswang task
Kuya confirmed early in the episode (around 9:18) that the birthday girls succeeded in the second part of their task: scaring the housemates. Because of that, they got to pick their handa from Kuya’s Halloween menu. Before they went back to their normal look, Kuya let them collect one more thing from the housemates: a dance.
We loved this little detail. After a day of being the scary ones, they got to be the ones being entertained. Kuya clearly knew they deserved a break from the contacts and the makeup. Being in character that long is tiring, and one of them admitted in the confession room that staying “in character” was hard.
And for two people who said they’re not big on birthday celebrations, Lans especially, they got one of the most elaborate parties the house has thrown so far. Sometimes you need someone else to insist.
The prep: hosts, decorations, and Bela asking for alak
Kuya called the boys and the girls to ask how they planned to make the birthday girls happy. The girls agreed on a dance number, and when Kuya asked if anyone wasn’t confident about dancing, someone volunteered to teach. Bela, being Bela, asked Kuya for alak. Kuya’s reply: “Bela, anong binabalak?”
Then Kuya called in Gehlee and Nathan and assigned them to lead the program as hosts. They immediately asked Winwyn and Robbie for help with the program flow, while everyone else cut letters and decorated.
Gehlee and Nathan as hosts is a fun pairing. Nathan has that loud, confident energy, and Gehlee balances it out. Tapping Winwyn, who has actual hosting and pageant experience, was the smartest move of the night.
The “alak” request is going in our funny moments. Bela never misses a chance.
The prep segment also shows how the house organizes itself without being told. Nobody fought over who would perform or what song to use. They split the work, boys on one number, girls on another, hosts on the program, and everyone else on decorations. For a group that’s only been together a week, that’s impressive coordination.
The costume party

The party opened with “Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the best nights we’ve been waiting for.” Nathan and Gehlee introduced each housemate one by one, costume and all. Calix came in a red and gold royal costume, someone showed up as a clown with a rainbow wig, and the girls came in leis and party outfits. The boys and the girls each performed for the birthday girls.

The costumes were the real highlight for us. Nobody went cheap. You could tell the housemates treated this like an actual event, not a TV task. That matters, because it means they actually care about Lans and Shea.
It’s also nice to see the whole house in one room, laughing, after a week of tasks, secret missions and scare tactics. Good reminder that the best PBB episodes are sometimes the ones where nothing is at stake.
Balut night
Part of the Halloween menu was balut, and for some housemates it was their first time. Shea announced it to the table: “There’s a balut!” Nicole wasn’t sold (“I feel like I won’t like it”), and the boys turned it into a “balut shot.” The full reactions are in the funny moments post.
Balut at a Halloween party is honestly perfect. It’s the most Pinoy “scary food” there is, and watching the housemates who grew up abroad face it was the best kind of culture shock.
The birthday messages
Near the end, the housemates gave their messages. One message to Shea told her to chase her dream as hard as she wants to, then: “Never ever dim your light, no matter what happens. Keep on shining!” To Lans, a message about how light her voice is, and how light her heart is too. Another wished them both to keep pursuing their dreams “with the people that matter to you most.”
These messages got us. They’re short, but they’re specific. Telling Lans that her heart matches her soft voice is the kind of compliment that only comes from people who have actually been paying attention for a week.
Also, a week in, and they’re already saying things like “never dim your light.” The house bonds fast. That’s either the magic of PBB or the effect of no phones. Probably both.
What we liked most is that the messages weren’t about the task or the game. Nobody said “good luck sa nominations.” They were about who Lans and Shea are as people. That’s a good sign for the house dynamic heading into the more competitive weeks.
The Lans and Shea birthday party: our take
Lans and Shea have been tied together all week, joint birthday, joint aswang, joint party. We hope they each get their own spotlight next. Shea already had her birthday surprise on Day 6, so Lans is due for hers.
Both of them also handled the attention well. Some housemates freeze when the whole room is focused on them. Lans and Shea laughed, cried a little, and thanked everyone. No speeches, no drama. If this is how they handle the spotlight, they’ll do fine when the cameras get less friendly, like on nomination night.
And a small appreciation for the rest of the house: they didn’t have to try this hard. A week in, nobody owes anybody a costume or a dance number. They did it anyway.
