Lans 25th Birthday on PBB Collab 3.0 Day 9: A Stepper From Kuya, a Cake From the Boys, and a Video From Her OFW Dad

Shea got her birthday surprise on Day 6, and on Day 9 of PBB Collab Edition 3.0 it was finally Lans‘s turn to have a day that was all hers. The Lans 25th birthday was simple on the surface: a greeting in the morning, a little gift from Kuya, a cake and a song. But it ended with a video message from her dad, an OFW, that turned the whole day into one of the most emotional segments of the season so far. Timestamps below follow the official full episode on YouTube. If you missed the Halloween party she shared with Shea, read Lans and Shea’s birthday party post first.

“Happy 25th!” and a very simple birthday tradition

The morning started with the house greeting her (2:33): “Happy birthday!” “Happy 25th!” Then, over breakfast, Winwyn asked what Lans usually does on her birthday (2:45). Her answer was the opposite of a big party. She wakes up, her mom greets her, and they stay home. “Luto talaga,” she said. The only thing they buy is the cake. Everything else is cooked by her mom. “Simple, pero para sa akin yun yung mas bongga.”

We love this answer. A lot of people in the house have big careers and bigger birthdays outside. Lans basically said the best birthday is the one where her mom cooks. That tells you a lot about where her values are.

It also explains why she looked a bit shy during the Day 8 party. All those costumes and performances were a lot for someone whose ideal celebration is pancit and cake at home. She enjoyed it, but this quieter morning felt more like her.

There’s something comforting about a housemate who doesn’t need a big production. In a season full of celebrities and content creators, Lans reminds viewers that a birthday can be small and still feel huge. That’s a quiet kind of relatability, and it’s hard to fake.

Kuya’s first gift: a stepper

Then Kuya noticed something (3:23). He asked how the kitchen counter was treating her. Was it too high? Lans laughed and admitted she always tiptoes when washing the dishes: “Liit ko po kasi.” Kuya told her to check under the kitchen cabinet, where she found a stepper. Two, actually. “Perfect. Tangkad mo!” someone said, and Lans thanked Kuya for the birthday gift.

This is our favorite kind of Kuya moment. It’s small, it’s practical, and it shows he’s watching even the boring parts of the day, like who struggles at the sink. Nobody else noticed. Kuya did.

And honestly, a stepper is a great gift. It’s the most “Kuya” present possible: a little funny, a little teasing, and actually useful. We’d bet she uses it every day from now on.

It also sets the tone for the rest of her day. Kuya started with a laugh, and only later went for the tears. That’s good storytelling, and a reminder that the show knows exactly how to pace an emotional episode.

A cake, a song, and a wish for the farmers

The boys also wanted to do something for her, so they made a cake again, complete with a candle (4:43). One of them explained it simply: it only happens once a year, so why not make her happy. When the house sang (6:47), Lans made her wish out loud. She said she’s super blessed, and she wished for more time with her family and good health for them. Then she added a wish for the world to be a better place, “for the animals, for our farmers,” and for the environment.

A 25-year-old who uses her birthday wish on farmers and animals is the most Lans thing we can imagine. Remember, she grew up feeding goats, cows and pigs in the province with her dad. It isn’t a pageant answer. It’s her life.

We also give credit to the boys for making another cake. It would have been easy to say “we already had a party yesterday.” They didn’t. That’s a good look for the whole house.

Kuya’s real gift: a message from her dad

In the confession room (21:12), Kuya asked how she celebrates outside. Same answer: her mom wakes her up with a kiss and they cook her favorite food. Then Kuya asked about her dad. “Si daddy po ay OFW,” she said. He sends gifts and chocolates, her favorite. Kuya told her he had a gift too, but she had to find it inside the house first.

After a search that confused everyone (she didn’t even know what she was looking for), the gift turned out to be a video from her dad (23:11). “Hi be. Musta ka na diyan be?” He told her the day was special because it was the day God gave her to their family. Then he apologized: “Sorry anak kung hindi ko nasubaybayan ang paglaki ninyo ni kuya mo,” because he was often away on their special days, working so they could have a good life and finish school. He thanked her mom for filling the gap, reminded Lans to “keep your feet on the ground,” and ended with “Happy birthday, baby bear. I love you.”

We’ll be honest. This one got us. “Baby bear” from a dad who has missed birthdays for years is a lot to handle.

What makes it hit harder is the apology. Many OFW parents never say this part out loud. He didn’t just say “I love you.” He said “I’m sorry I wasn’t there,” and then explained why. That kind of honesty is rare, and Lans clearly felt every word.

We also noticed how he thanked her mom. In many OFW families, the parent at home carries everything, and they rarely get credit on camera. Her dad made sure her mom was part of the message. That’s a husband and a father who pays attention, even from far away.

Her reply was even more beautiful: “Kahit bigyan pa ako ng pagkakataon para makapili ng magulang, kayo pa rin ‘yung pipiliin ko.” If you’re an OFW kid, you probably cried at this part. We did.

“Daddy’s girl po talaga ako”

Later, Lans told Kuya more about her dad (25:15). She’s a daddy’s girl. When he comes home, they go to the province, where he taught her to feed the animals, and they watch movies together. She loves to “makichismis” on whatever he’s doing. But every goodbye at the airport is hard. She tries not to cry, but she can see that he’s crying too, and she knows it will be six or nine months before they’re together again. Her dream: to finish, to provide, maybe to start a business, “para hindi na kailangan ni daddy umalis.”

Kuya’s reply (26:53) was gentle. He told her she is trying her best to be the best daughter, the best person and a provider, and that distance doesn’t lessen a family’s love. “Lahat ng ito ay magbubunga ng mabuti sa huli.”

This is the part we’ll remember about Lans. Her goal in this house isn’t fame. It’s to bring her dad home. That’s one of the most relatable motivations any housemate has shared so far.

It’s a dream a lot of OFW kids share, and few say it on national TV. Hearing it from a 25-year-old who still calls herself a daddy’s girl made it land even harder. We hope she gets there.

It also reframes how we see her. Lans is soft-spoken, the “light voice” from the Day 8 birthday messages. But under that soft voice is a daughter with a very clear plan. We’re rooting for her.

Our take on the Lans 25th birthday

Day 9 gave Lans what the joint party couldn’t: a spotlight that was only hers. And Kuya used it well. The stepper made her laugh, the cake made her feel loved, and the video made sure she knew her family is with her, even from abroad.

We think this episode will win her a lot of new fans, especially from OFW families. Her story is not dramatic or unusual. That’s exactly why it works. Many viewers have said goodbye to a parent at NAIA, and they’ll see themselves in her.

One wish from us: we hope her dad gets to watch this from wherever he is working right now. He should know his “baby bear” picked him again, on national TV.
